Dunno why but I seem to remember who you're talking about here (KLF). The steel guitar player is BJ Cole. I do believe he (she?) has been on a number of ambient records so maybe that's why I remember the name (maybe Harold Budd?). Anyone else know about Cole? Though it's not exactly steel guitar, you might want to look out for Robert Quine/Fred Maher's "Basic." Lots of interesting ambient (and non-ambient) gtr stylings there.
